Hammered Dulcimer
Made by Dusty Strings. This has 56, double course strings, and ranges 3 octaves (from the D below middle C up). Normally it is tuned to play in basic keys, D, G, C, F, and their relative minors; with certain notes missing in certain octaves to make it hard to play in the farther out keys. However, any string can be adjusted to fit the notes of a given piece. This has been played in well tempered tuning, and in other tunings tunings for various gigs; once to a Indo-Chinese scale, D Eb F# G A Bb C#, and once to the Persian scale of Nava: G A quarter-flat (435Hz) Bb C D Eb F
